Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) partnered with Artacia in a collaborative effort to engage artists and the community in upcycling discarded waste materials into unique contemporary artworks, promoting sustainability and environmental stewardship. Although the project did not progress to the creation of contemporary artworks, we successfully completed the curation phase focused on exploring the artistic potential of waste materials.

The initiative aimed to introduce sustainable practices that benefit the environment while linking RWS’s rich history with its future. By minimizing waste going into landfills and reducing resource consumption, the project sought to inspire people to reconsider their consumption habits and embrace environmental stewardship through art and community engagement.
This initiative aimed to change the perception of waste as unwanted or unused material by showcasing its potential to create something beautiful and useful. By engaging local communities and integrating art and culture, the project aimed to create a sense of homecoming for visitors to RWS, emphasizing the connection between sustainability, art, and the environment.

While the project’s direction shifted during the waste curation phase, the collaborative effort highlighted the importance of creativity and community involvement in promoting sustainable practices and reimagining waste as a valuable resource for artistic expression and environmental impact.
